What Is Microblading?

Updated: Feb 9, 2022

The Cosmetic and Beauty Industry are constantly looking into upgrading and improving. With so many changing trends and the focus on natural beauty, women are orienting into correcting some of their imperfections, but yet still achieve their most natural look. The one part of the face that is subject to this kind of treatment and procedures are the “Brows.”

The Eyebrows are considered "The Frame of the Face."

Well-defined and textured brows create a full and natural look for the face, as well as complete each makeup look. Although there are many different makeup products that correct the look of Brows, the most popular and trending technique that offers more permanent results than makeup is the Microblading.

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure done using a hand tool attached to several blades to create "Hairstrokes." Microblading is very trendy and popular among women looking to correct the look of their brows. It consist of manually drawing and shaping the eyebrows. The technique starts by doing micro incisions on the surface of the skin where the eyebrows bone is located on the face. These incisions mimic the look of the hair on the brows which defines them and gives a texture to the brows.

Depending on the personal preference, there are several different shapes of eyebrows. Although, most artist should suggest going with the shape that best fits the face symmetry. When the incisions are done, and the shape is defined, the next step is the application of color. The pigment should match the natural color of the hair and it is inserted in the incisions. That is how the final look is created. Microblading gives the brows that thicker, more voluminous, and fuller look.

The treatment lasts about 1 to 2 hours, depending on the final look that needs to be achieved. A regular touch-up appointment is required after about 6 weeks. In that time, the pigment will absorb in the skin and it might fade or change color. The color might appear as faded and lighter than the desired one, and that is exactly what the touch-up appointment will fix.

The results from the microblading treatment can last from one to three years, but that depends on the skin type, products used in the treatment, and the lifestyle.

Post care comes highly suggested after doing the microblading treatment and it should include sunscreen that will prevent the fading of color and ensure the longevity of the eyebrows. Sunscreen on the eyebrows is my top requirement for my clients here living in South Florida! “The Sunshine State”
